Educational
Programs
In the true interest of community, CraigsPress.com with
AuthorsDen.com offer writing
programs for young writers and their local community.
Novels are collaborative
efforts.
Mentors are published authors.
Student
novel will be published.
All
proceeds benefit school.
The primary objective of our
creative writing program is to promote the creative writing
skills of students through their writing of a student novel.
Our secondary goal is to give the students a sense of
community awareness through the donation of all profits back
into the school system. By creating this novel it will give an
opportunity for high school students to express themselves
creatively and at the same time learn about the history of the
surrounding area. With this project we can decrease the gap
between the divided age groups in our society and possibly
find some young role models among the community. It can also
help establish a writing program that will instill pride and a
common ground for teenagers and readers of all ages.
Additionally, the community, as a whole, will be intrigued to
read about its local environment and be able to hold in their
hands a product that was created by the students.
The goal is three-fold;
1. Provide the youth with a creative outlet that encourages teamwork,
promotes leadership and ownership.
2. Develop writing skills that are critical to success in todays
workplace.
3. Gives schools an on-going fundraising/revenue stream they can be proud
of through the sales
of the student created novels.
To assist in accomplishing
this, CraigsPress.com has created a non-profit organization to connect
the
youth with the power of creative writing in fun meaningful
ways. CraigsPress.com with AuthorsDen.com supports schools,
teachers and students with a new, innovative approach to
publishing, while connecting students with published authors
who serve as project mentors.
Last year, we were inspired to
create a fund raising project for our local school district
which would promote creative writing skills in our local high
schools. We have engaged one of our authors, from the
AuthorsDen community to write the first chapter of a book and
then allow the student writers to collaborate on the
subsequent chapters.
In this particular case the district requested that we have
the students write with a local historical perspective in
mind. The students were grouped into writing teams with
responsibility for their individual chapters. The students
have excelled with their works and we will have their novel
available for sale in early May. We have encouraged intense
creativity, open teamwork and the pleasure of giving back to
the community. AuthorsDen.com along with our sister site
CraigsPress.com are contributing all of book profits to the
school district in order to further promote their creative
writing programs. In our competitive academic environment, how
many students can add the label of "Published Author" to their
college application? This will be the legacy of every student
involved and something they can always call their own. Upon
completion of this initial project, we will be rolling out
this program to other schools wanting to participate.
The program is
organized, free and educates students while supporting your local schools and
community.
Administrators, students and
authors please contact us
to participate.
